The White House has responded to the results of the US midterm elections by posting an image of President Donald Trump with the caption: “Trump is still your president.”
The image, shared on the White House’s official social media accounts, shows Trump sitting behind the famous Resolute Desk in the Oval Office. It is presented as a “public service announcement”.
The post came after Democrats made significant gains in several election races and marked the White House’s first public response to the results.
Trump had earlier commented on the Republicans’ performance, acknowledging that Democrats had “done well”. However, he claimed Republican candidates would have performed better if his name had also appeared on the ballot.
