MUSCAT: The fourth round of nuclear talks between high-level delegations of Iran and the United States was held today in Muscat, the capital of Oman.

The negotiations took place as U.S. President Donald Trump is preparing for a trip to the Middle East.

The discussions, mediated by Oman, lasted about three hours and aimed to limit Iran’s nuclear program in exchange for a reduction of sanctions.

According to an Associated Press report, a U.S. official noted progress on technical issues, however, Iran emphasized that uranium enrichment is a red line it is unwilling to negotiate.

Trump has threatened military action and raised the possibility of an Israeli attack.
Despite some advancements, fundamental differences remain unresolved.

The timing and location of the next round of talks will be announced by the Omani coordinator.
