Beijing, Moscow emphasize expanding cooperation for an independent and peaceful Afghanistan
KABUL: Following Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to Moscow, China and Russia issued a joint statement emphasizing the strengthening of bilateral and multilateral cooperation on Afghanistan.
In the joint statement, the two leaders have declared their goal to transform Afghanistan into an independent, neutral, drug-free, united, and peaceful country.
“Beijing and Moscow are committed to continuing their bilateral and multilateral cooperation regarding Afghanistan,” said the statement.
Also, the two sides considered the role of regional organizations and forums to be very important in advancing a political solution in Afghanistan.
The Meeting of Foreign Ministers of Afghanistan’s Neighboring Countries, the quadrilateral meeting of China-Russia-Iran and Pakistan, the Moscow Format, and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization are among the organizations that are working to resolve the Afghan crisis.
