The United Nations has said that delivering emergency food assistance to vulnerable children in Afghanistan has become one of the most difficult humanitarian operations in the world due to regional instability, the closure of border routes, and extensive logistical challenges in transport and delivery. Relevant UN agencies stated that recent regional tensions and the closure of key border crossings with neighboring countries have severely affected the delivery of humanitarian aid, creating significant obstacles in the transportation of food supplies and nutritional assistance. The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) estimates that in 2026 around 11.6 million children in Afghanistan will require humanitarian assistance, while nearly one million children are at risk of severe malnutrition.
