KUWAIT CITY, June 1 — Kuwait’s military said early on Monday that its air defense systems were responding to what it described as “hostile missiles and drones,” as Iran and the United States reported fresh attacks against each other. The General Staff of the Kuwaiti Armed Forces said in a statement that the country’s air defense units were actively intercepting incoming aerial threats over Kuwaiti airspace. The military added that any explosions heard by residents were the result of air defense operations aimed at intercepting and destroying the projectiles. The developments come amid a renewed escalation in military tensions between Iran and the United States, with both sides reporting new attacks against one another. No further details were immediately available regarding the origin of the missiles and drones or any potential damage and casualties.
