While Iran has announced that it has received and is reviewing Washington’s latest proposals regarding ending tensions and the framework of a possible agreement, two senior Iranian sources told Reuters that Seyed Mojtaba Khamenei opposes transferring Iran’s enriched uranium stockpiles outside the country. According to the sources, Khamenei wants Iran’s highly enriched uranium reserves to remain inside the country. The position could create a major obstacle to one of Washington’s key demands: the transfer of around 440 kilograms of Iran’s 60% enriched uranium to another country.
