At least one civilian and eight Pakistani security personnel were killed and dozens more injured in a suicide attack in northwestern Pakistan, according to international media reports. The incident took place on Thursday evening in the Bajaur district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, near the Afghan border. According to the reports, a vehicle laden with explosives attempted to enter a military compound. The explosion occurred near the main entrance, causing heavy casualties and significant damage. Local police said 35 other security personnel were wounded in the attack. The blast also damaged the gate and sections of the walls surrounding the military facility. The incident comes only days after another explosion in the Lakki Marwat area of the same province killed seven people. No group has so far claimed responsibility for the attack. In recent years, border regions between Pakistan and Afghanistan have repeatedly witnessed similar attacks, with security conditions in the area continuing to be described as fragile.
