Saudi Arabia’s Hajj security forces have arrested five Afghan nationals for allegedly attempting to enter the holy city of Mecca illegally without official Hajj permits. The newspaper Saudi Gazette reported that the individuals were trying to enter Mecca on foot through desert routes. According to the report, they were detained for violating Hajj regulations and instructions, and legal proceedings have been initiated against them. Saudi public security authorities urged pilgrims and residents to comply with Hajj regulations and report any violations to the authorities. Saudi Arabia imposes special restrictions and regulations each year to manage the Hajj pilgrimage and considers entry into Mecca without a permit a punishable offence.
