At least 14 people were killed and 38 others injured following a bomb attack in southwestern Colombia, according to international media reports. The explosion occurred on Saturday evening, April 25, along a highway in a volatile region. According to Agence France-Presse, the incident comes as the country approaches its presidential elections scheduled for next month. Authorities stated that the blast took place on the Pan-American Highway, causing severe destruction to buses and passenger vehicles. Several vehicles were reportedly overturned due to the force of the explosion. Colombian President Gustavo Petro reacted to the attack on X, describing the perpetrators as “terrorists, fascists, and drug traffickers.” The incident follows another bombing a day earlier in Cali, the country’s third-largest city, which left two people injured and triggered a surge in violence across the departments of Valle del Cauca and Cauca.
