Speaking on Wednesday, Lavrov stated that Russia supports any agreement that recognizes Iran’s rights under international law and is based on mutual consent rather than pressure. He also accused Western countries of trying to dictate relations in Central Asia and the South Caucasus. Meanwhile, the United States maintains a hardline stance, calling for a complete halt to Iran’s enrichment activities. Donald Trump has also reiterated that continued enrichment by Iran is unacceptable. Reports suggest proposals for a long-term suspension of Iran’s enrichment program—up to 20 years—have been discussed, but major disagreements remain.
