Tayyip Erdogan has warned about the risk of an escalation and expansion of war involving Iran, the United States, and Israel, stressing the need to avoid further tensions and return to the negotiating table. Speaking in the Turkish parliament, Erdogan said his government’s priority is to maintain national security and ensure that the country passes through the current regional situation without harm. He added that Türkiye is working to stay away from direct involvement in the conflict. These remarks came after a ballistic missile launched from Iran entered Turkish airspace and was intercepted by NATO systems. This incident is considered the fourth of its kind since tensions between Tehran and the region began. Following three previous interceptions, NATO has reinforced Türkiye’s air defense systems. Erdogan emphasized that Türkiye remains in continuous contact with Iran, the United States, and other countries, and that its goal is to reduce tensions and pave the way for political and diplomatic solutions.
