A Russian military transport aircraft has crashed in the Crimean Peninsula, killing all 29 people on board.
According to Reuters, the aircraft was an An-26 and was carrying 23 passengers and 6 crew members.
The report said the aircraft was involved in a military flight when the accident occurred, and it crashed after hitting a rock. Rescue teams later found the wreckage at the crash site.
Other media outlets also confirmed the incident, reporting that the aircraft struck a rock and that there were no survivors.
Initial assessments suggest that a technical problem may have caused the crash, but investigations are still ongoing to determine the exact cause.
Additional reports say the aircraft lost contact before the crash and was later found in a mountainous and hard-to-reach area.
Russian officials have not yet released further details about the nature of the aircraft’s mission.
