Residents and students in Uruzgan have expressed concern about the state of education, saying that the shortage of schools and facilities has made the learning process difficult. They say the existing schools do not meet the demand, and in many areas, students are forced to travel long and unsafe distances to attend classes. Uruzgan, which has six districts, is facing a shortage of textbooks, teachers, and proper school buildings. With the start of the new academic year, residents have called on the Afghan government to take immediate action to improve the situation. The provincial education official says the situation has improved compared to the past and that construction work on 43 new schools will begin. Currently, about 240 schools are operating for nearly 80,000 students, but shortages still remain. Residents hope that with the implementation of educational projects, better learning opportunities will be provided.
