Donald Trump, the President of the United States, stated that his country’s military operation in Iran had been successful and that changes had occurred within Iran’s ruling system. He added that he had spoken with new Iranian negotiators and that part of his 15-point plan had been accepted. Trump warned that if an immediate agreement with Tehran is not reached and the Strait of Hormuz is not reopened, the United States may target Iran’s vital infrastructure, including power plants, oil wells, and Kharg Island. He also said that the strikes could include desalination facilities. These statements come as U.S. special forces have been reinforced in the Middle East, raising concerns about disruptions to global oil and energy supplies. According to a report by The New York Times, hundreds of additional special forces have been deployed to the region to join the forces already stationed there.
