Hamdullah Fitrat, deputy spokesperson for the Taliban, says Pakistani forces have once again targeted areas in Asadabad, the capital of Kunar province, with artillery shelling. According to him, one person was killed and at least 16 others were injured as a result of the attacks. Fitrat, sharing images, added that the victims of this incident were civilians, mostly women and children. He also stated that heavy weapons were used in the attacks. Meanwhile, local sources in Kunar have also confirmed that residential areas in parts of Asadabad city were targeted this evening with mortars and heavy weapons. According to these sources, parts of civilian homes were damaged and a number of local residents were killed and injured. Based on preliminary figures, 16 people were injured and one civilian was killed in the incident. Eyewitnesses say the intensity of the explosions caused widespread fear among residents, and some families were forced to leave their homes. This incident comes as similar attacks have previously been reported along the Durand Line, causing significant civilian casualties. The continuation of this situation has increased concerns about rising tensions and the spread of insecurity in Afghanistan’s border areas.
