Eight people were killed in two separate incidents in eastern Afghanistan, Taliban officials said. Four people died and one was injured in a traffic accident in Nangarhar province after a speeding car lost control and hit a tree, local officials said. In a separate incident, four children were killed in Ghazni province when a landmine left over from past wars exploded, according to Taliban authorities. Officials urged residents to avoid unknown objects and report suspicious items to authorities.
