Pakistan’s Defence Minister, Khawaja Muhammad Asif, has announced that the country’s military operations against the Taliban will continue without any fixed deadline. In an interview with a Pakistani media outlet, he stated that the operation has not yet been completed and will persist until its defined objectives are achieved. He added that despite global attention being focused on conflicts in the Middle East, Pakistan intends to maintain military pressure on the Taliban. The defence minister further emphasized that the operation is being carried out to achieve “maximum results.” So far, the Taliban have not responded to these remarks. However, they have previously claimed that such attacks primarily result in harm to civilians. Pakistan had earlier declared a temporary ceasefire during Eid al-Fitr at the request of Saudi Arabia, which ended following the conclusion of the holiday. In recent developments, reports indicate that Pakistani forces have launched attacks on Taliban positions in Dehdadi district of Balkh province and have also resumed missile strikes in border areas.
