Abbas Araghchi, the Foreign Minister of Iran, said that Iran’s “enemies” have failed in their efforts to divide the country and undermine its national unity amid the ongoing conflict involving Iran, the United States, and Israel. Araghchi described the ongoing war as a significant moment in Iran’s history and said that Iran had successfully thwarted the objectives of its opponents in what he described as a rapid victory. He once again rejected reports about the start of negotiations with the United States, stating that Tehran’s current policy is to continue its resistance. He said a ceasefire without guarantees would lead to renewed conflict and that Iran would only agree to a ceasefire if firm guarantees were in place. Referring to the Strait of Hormuz, Araghchi said the important maritime route would remain open only to friendly countries and that hostile countries would not be allowed to pass through it. Meanwhile, Donald Trump has recently said that talks with Iran are ongoing and that Tehran has shown interest in reaching an agreement. He added that several Iranian officials had previously also rejected the possibility of negotiations.
