Reports indicate that the United States and Iran may soon hold talks in Islamabad. Reuters, citing an informed source, reported that Israeli officials believe the negotiations could take place as early as this week. Earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump had spoken of “constructive” talks with Iran. However, Iran’s Foreign Ministry rejected the claim and emphasized that no direct negotiations with the United States have taken place. Meanwhile, reports suggest that several regional countries, including Turkey, Egypt, and Pakistan, are passing messages between the two sides and are trying to help reduce tensions. Sources also said that contacts between officials from both sides are ongoing to prepare for possible meetings, but no official talks have been confirmed so far.
