Government Employees Spent Eid Without Salaries

Government employees say that according to an official letter and prior promises, salaries for the last month of the previous solar year were supposed to be distributed before Eid al-Fitr, but the Ministry of Finance paid only the military sector while salaries of civilian employees were delayed. Sources from various government institutions told a credible source that due to continued bombings by Pakistan, economic problems, and unpaid salaries, this year’s Eid was difficult and joyless for them. However, they expect their salaries to be distributed immediately after Eid. Unconfirmed reports suggest that last month’s salaries may be delayed until the 20th of the current solar month. Due to economic difficulties and a budget deficit, the Taliban began the current fiscal year one month earlier, on the first day of Kab of the year 1404, but the budget has not yet been approved, its figures have not been made public, and government employees’ salaries have been repeatedly delayed. This situation has disrupted the daily work of government employees, as they had organized their living expenses around their salaries, but the delays have caused them many problems and made life increasingly difficult.
