U.S. President Donald Trump stated in a brief phone interview with Axios on Wednesday that the war with Iran will “soon” come to an end, as “practically nothing is left to target.” He added, “Just small things here and there… whenever I want, the war will be over.” However, U.S. and Israeli officials have indicated they are prepared to strike Iran for at least another two weeks. Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz also emphasized that the conflict will continue “until objectives are achieved and complete victory is secured.” Over the past twelve days, clashes between U.S. and Israeli forces and Iran have persisted, with reciprocal attacks on cities and bases in the region intensifying. Tensions over oil tanker passages through the Strait of Hormuz have also escalated. The U.S. has targeted 16 Iranian minesweepers, while Iran has attacked two additional vessels. Iran has warned that oil prices could reach $200 per barrel, and the Strait of Hormuz remains unsafe; the route carrying one-fifth of the world’s oil continues to face disruptions. The International Energy Agency has proposed releasing 400 million barrels from strategic reserves, but this would only meet a small portion of market demand.
