Antonio Tajani announced that Italy has closed its embassy in Tehran due to security concerns, while diplomatic relations with Iran will be maintained. Tajani said that Italian Ambassador Paola Amadei, along with a 50-member diplomatic team, has left Iran and arrived in Azerbaijan. He added: “We will continue maintaining diplomatic relations with Tehran to protect remaining Italian citizens in Iran and safeguard our national interests.” According to the foreign minister, Italy’s embassy activities will be temporarily managed from Baku.
