ISLAMABAD: The Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has claimed responsibility for a surprise attack on Pakistani military forces in Bajaur, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, resulting in heavy casualties. The TTP released a video stating that at least 40 Pakistani soldiers were killed in the ambush. The Pakistani military has not yet officially commented, but some local media outlets reported clashes in Bajaur. The attack comes following recent strikes by Pakistani forces. The TTP leader has reportedly ordered commanders and fighters to intensify attacks inside Pakistan and weaken enemy positions. He also framed the operations as a show of solidarity with Afghanistan. Regional and provincial TTP leaders have been instructed to accelerate their activities and ensure that attacks are organized and effective. Previously, Pakistani authorities had reported several drone strikes in Zhob and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa targeting armed militants.
