KABUL: Elon Musk, CEO of the aerospace technology company SpaceX, has announced that the company intends to build a “self-sustaining city” on the Moon, within ten years. In a message on X, he noted that while efforts for Mars are still ongoing, the priority is to ensure the future of civilization, with a full focus on the Moon. According to the Wall Street Journal, SpaceX plans to schedule initial missions to the Moon and will delay Mars travel to a later date. Musk emphasized that the Moon is not just a scientific or symbolic target but is seen as a strategic center for long-term and sustainable presence. Creating a self-sustaining city would require advanced infrastructure, including energy, production, and autonomous systems, which could serve as a model for human habitation. Musk made the statements following the agreement for the acquisition of X.AI. SpaceX’s valuation stands at one trillion dollars, while the artificial intelligence company X.AI is estimated to be worth 250 billion dollars.
