KABUL: Kyrylo Dmitriev, the special representative of the President of Russia, has claimed that peace negotiations regarding Ukraine could have yielded results in April 2022. However, he stated that the intervention of Britain and then-Prime Minister Boris Johnson diverted the talks from their intended path. Dmitriev on Sunday posted on social media that this perspective was expressed by the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic. He alleged that Britain intervened in the negotiations due to its “interest in continuing the conflict,” which ultimately led to the failure of the talks. He noted that the head of the Ukrainian negotiating team has also confirmed the failure of peace negotiations in 2022. The remarks come amid ongoing disagreements regarding solutions to the Ukraine crisis, with the role of third-party countries in the peace process once again being highlighted.
