WASHINGTON: U.S. President Donald Trump has expressed anger over the trade agreements between China and Canada, warning that he would impose a 100% tariff on Canadian goods. Trump emphasized that Canada must cancel its trade agreement with China, as he believes China is undermining Canada’s economy and social structure. He further warned that if Canada does not revoke this agreement, the U.S. will impose a 100% tariff on Canadian products. The warning comes after the recent visit of the Canadian Prime Minister to China, where he reached agreements aimed at expanding trade with Chinese officials. Following the agreements, an irate Trump stated that China would “devour” Canada economically. The issue of tariffs on trade goods between Canada and the U.S. has been contentious for many years, but discussions have intensified since Trump’s return to the White House. Recently, he has also criticized NATO, describing some of his actions as unilateral.
