Protesters burn U.S. flag in Switzerland during anti-Trump demonstration

DAVOS: Hundreds of protesters set fire to the U.S. flag, in Switzerland expressing their opposition to President Donald Trump’s participation in the World Economic Forum in Davos. According to the TASS news agency, around 2,000 people participated in these protests, igniting fires using smoke bombs made from straw. The protesters shouted in unison, “Trump is sick,” along with demands to “close the door,” as they burned the U.S. flag. The protest was organized by a left-wing social movements group, which stated that U.S. policy under Trump is leading towards militarized terrorism and the coercion of vulnerable nations. Reports indicated that Trump’s visit to the World Economic Forum is emblematic of the U.S. moving towards complete political crisis. The World Economic Forum in Davos is a Swiss non-governmental organization that hosts annual meetings with experts from business, politics, and various sectors. This year, the forum is taking place from January 19 to 23 in the country.
