JALALABAD: According to local sources in Nangarhar province, a 36-year-old woman has been shot dead in Jalalabad, the provincial capital, by her brother-in-law. Sources confirmed on Tuesday, that the incident occurred on Monday in the “Camps” area of the 1st district of Jalalabad. The reason behind the incident has been stated as family violence; however, further details regarding the victim’s family situation, including whether she had children or the status of her husband, remain unclear. Sources indicate that the suspect fled the scene following the incident and has not yet been apprehended. Taliban officials in Nangarhar have not yet issued any official statements regarding this event. This incident occurred amid ongoing reports of increased violence against women and girls since the Taliban’s return to power in Afghanistan, with supportive and handling organizations reportedly functioning at limited capacity.
