KABUL: Mohammad Sadiq, Pakistan’s Special Representative for Afghanistan, has announced the commencement of the second phase of the “Allama Muhammad Iqbal” scholarship program for Afghan students. He posted on his X on Wednesday, that students can register for undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral programs. The Higher Education Commission of Pakistan has also confirmed the awarding of these scholarships. In this round, 4,500 scholarship seats are allocated across various fields including medicine, engineering, agriculture, management, social sciences, and computer science, with no restrictions placed on female students. The aim of these scholarships is to strengthen the ties and connections between the people of the two countries. The registration process is online, and the deadline for applications is set for September 30. Additionally, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs has announced that it will accept 1,000 Afghan students for higher education at state universities in India for undergraduate and master’s programs. The Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) stated that the registration for these scholarships began online on the current month of the solar month. These foreign scholarships are particularly significant for Afghan girls, as the Taliban have closed schools and universities for girls above the sixth grade.
