ANKARA: Turkey’s Transport Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu has been fined after a video surfaced showing him driving at a speed of 225 kilometers per hour, nearly double the legal limit. Uraloğlu stated that he was assessing the condition of a major highway outside the capital, Ankara, while driving at that speed. The video, originally part of a speech by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan praising infrastructure projects, was shared on Uraloğlu’s social media alongside Turkish music. He has been fined the equivalent of $280 and has since apologized to the public. Last year, over 6,000 people died in traffic accidents in Turkey.
