Araghchi: Agreement with the U.S. not possible without uranium enrichment

KABUL: Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s Foreign Minister, stated that continuing uranium enrichment within the country is a fundamental condition for any nuclear agreement with the United States, and without it, no agreement will be reached.

In a meeting with foreign ambassadors and representatives in Tehran, he emphasized, “The rights of the Iranian people regarding nuclear issues, including the right to enrichment, must be respected. There is no way forward except a return to diplomacy.”

At the same time, some sources have reported a request from Vladimir Putin for Iran to halt its enrichment activities, but the Tasnim news agency has denied this report.

Araghchi criticized the UN Security Council and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) for their failure to condemn Israeli and U.S. attacks on Iranian facilities, stating that Iran’s cooperation with the IAEA will now be conducted through the Supreme National Security Council.

He warned that the use of the trigger mechanism by European countries would complicate the negotiation process and added, “Iran’s military capabilities will be maintained and will not be up for negotiation.”
