Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian told Russian President Vladimir Putin in a phone call that Tehran was ready for a “balanced and fair” agreement with the United States.
Mr Pezeshkian briefed President Putin on the latest developments in talks between Iran and the US, mediated by Pakistan.
He said an agreement would be possible if Washington respected international law, while stressing that Iran’s national interests and the rights of its people were red lines for Tehran. He also said some US demands were hindering progress in the talks.
President Putin expressed Russia’s support for diplomatic efforts to resolve the differences and said Moscow was ready to assist the negotiations between Iran and the US.
