The six-month US war with Iran has cost about $38 billion up to 1 August 2026, according to the US Congressional Budget Office.
Reuters reported that the Congressional Budget Office estimates the conflict could add around $2 billion to $3 billion a month to US costs if the fighting continues.
The agency said a significant share of the spending has been related to the rapid use of US munitions and weapons. Replenishing some ammunition stocks could take up to five years.
The report also warned that a prolonged war could affect energy prices and inflation in the United States.
The US Department of Defense had previously estimated the cost of the war at about $37.5 billion.
