Thousands of Palestinians have attended a mass funeral in Gaza City for about 100 people whose remains were recovered from the rubble of destroyed homes.
The remains, including those of around 60 children, were recovered from buildings in the Zeitoun neighbourhood after being buried for more than two years.
Families and residents gathered for funeral prayers before the remains were taken for burial. Gaza’s Civil Defence said rescue teams recovered the remains during ongoing searches through destroyed buildings.
The recovery operation has been hampered by shortages of heavy machinery and other equipment needed to search through the rubble.
