Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz has said that US fighter jets and bombers launched strikes on Iran from Israeli air bases in recent weeks. Speaking to Israel’s Channel 14 television on Tuesday, Katz said: “The Iranians know” that the aircraft took off from Israel to carry out attacks on Iran. According to The Jerusalem Post, Katz also claimed that “the proud empire that threatened to destroy Israel has collapsed.” Repeating a warning issued last week by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Katz said Israel would respond with full force if it came under attack. “We made it absolutely clear that if Israel is fired upon, we will strike with full force. We are prepared to attack Iran,” he said. His remarks came as the Israeli military said it had intercepted at least three drones near the Jordanian border on Monday and Tuesday. A source quoted by The Jerusalem Post said the drones were likely launched by Iran-backed Shia militias in Iraq.
