US President Donald Trump says “very friendly” talks are taking place with Iran following a three-day pause in hostilities between the two sides. Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One on Monday, Trump expressed optimism that a deal could be reached but warned that Washington would return to previous actions if the talks failed. Iran has denied holding any direct negotiations with the United States. The pause came after nearly two weeks of US strikes and Iranian retaliatory attacks, which had raised concerns over regional security and global oil markets. Trump also rejected reports that the US military was running low on ammunition, saying the country had sufficient supplies and that production of defence equipment, including Patriot missile systems, was increasing. The White House said the US military had more than enough weapons and resources to meet its strategic objectives. However, the future of the talks between Washington and Tehran remains uncertain.
