Araghchi: Any Cooperation in Aggression Against Iran Will Create International Responsibility

BISHKEK – Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on Friday that any participation, cooperation or assistance in “aggression against Iran will create international responsibility for the involved parties.” Speaking at a meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation’s Council of Foreign Ministers in Kyrgyzstan, Mr Araghchi said that recent attacks on Iran were not merely a threat to the national security of one country, but rather “a challenge to the fundamental principles of international law,” adding that this would endanger the security of all nations. The Iranian foreign minister’s remarks come as the Islamic Republic’s armed forces have, over the past two weeks, carried out sustained drone and missile strikes on parts of Kuwait, Jordan and Bahrain. Mr Araghchi further stressed that Iran seeks stability and security in the region, but would firmly defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity against any threat or aggression. He called on member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation to adopt a clear stance on recent developments that have undermined regional security.
