JD Vance: US Not Seeking Ground Troop Deployment to Iran US

Vice President JD Vance has said Washington is not seeking to deploy ground troops to Iran, arguing that such a move would mean the US military carrying out a task that, in his view, “the Iranian people should do themselves.” Speaking on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast, Vance also warned against pursuing a “Libya-style” outcome in Iran. He said the overthrow of Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi had left the country a failed state, triggering mass migration, widespread violence and the spread of terrorism. Vance argued that a similar scenario in Iran would not serve US interests, warning it could displace millions of people and create new security threats for Europe, the United States and other regions. His remarks come amid renewed speculation over possible US military options against Iran, including discussions in recent days about deploying ground forces or seizing Kharg Island as tensions between Washington and Tehran continue to escalate.
