WASHINGTON — The United States has given Iran a one-day deadline to publicly declare that the Strait of Hormuz will remain open to international shipping and that attacks on commercial vessels will cease, according to Axios. Citing three U.S. officials, Axios reported that the Trump administration delivered the ultimatum to Iran through regional mediators. According to the report, Washington has asked Tehran to publicly guarantee the safety and freedom of navigation in the strategic waterway and halt any attacks on commercial shipping. The message was conveyed through regional intermediaries, the report said.
