Israeli media, citing the office of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, reported that US President Donald Trump spoke by phone with Mr Netanyahu on Thursday to discuss the latest developments concerning Iran. According to a statement from the Israeli prime minister’s office, the two leaders discussed coordinated action on multiple fronts, and Mr Trump briefed Mr Netanyahu on US measures related to Iran. The statement also said Mr Netanyahu criticised remarks by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and his close advisers directed at Israel, and stressed the need to maintain security zones along Israel’s border with Lebanon. Turkey recently hosted the Nato leaders’ summit. Turkish officials have repeatedly accused Israel of undermining efforts to preserve the US-Iran understanding. Israel has also repeatedly voiced concern over the possible sale of advanced F-35 fighter jets to Turkey. According to reports, the issue led to the cancellation of US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth’s planned visit to Israel.
