U.S. President Donald Trump has criticised Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni over her refusal to support Washington during tensions involving Iran, while describing her as a “good person.” Speaking to reporters in Ankara ahead of the NATO summit, Mr Trump said his relationship with Ms Meloni had become “slightly damaged” because she did not assist the United States on the Iran issue. Despite the criticism, Mr Trump said he still respected the Italian prime minister, but argued that she had made the wrong decision. The disagreement highlights growing differences between Washington and some of its European allies over policy towards Iran.
