US Secretary of State Marco Rubio will travel to Uzbekistan and India from 17 to 22 October, accompanied by a delegation of more than 200 US business leaders, the US State Department has said.
Rubio will first visit Samarkand, Uzbekistan, to attend a meeting of foreign ministers from Central Asian countries under the C5+1 framework. He is also expected to meet officials from Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan to discuss regional cooperation and economic ties.
He will then travel to Mumbai and Jamnagar in India for talks with government officials and business leaders. Discussions are expected to focus on strengthening US-India strategic relations, regional and global developments, and energy cooperation.
