Shabana Basij-Rasikh, founder of the School of Leadership Afghanistan (SOLA), says $2.5m has been allocated to establish a permanent scholarship fund for Afghan women, in partnership with the Weidenfeld-Hoffmann Trust.
The fund will provide at least one Afghan woman each year with the opportunity to pursue a master’s degree at the University of Oxford in the UK.
The scholarship will cover tuition fees, contribute towards living expenses and provide leadership training.
In a video posted on X, Ms Basij-Rasikh said the first scholarships would be available from September 2027 for Afghan women applying to study at Oxford.
