Manawi: ICC Warrants Show Afghanistan Case Remains OpenFormer Afghan Justice Minister Fazal Ahmad Manawi has said the International Criminal Court’s arrest warrants for four senior Taliban officials show that cases involving alleged human rights violations in Afghanistan remain open.

The ICC has issued warrants for Taliban leader Hibatullah Akhundzada, Abdul Hakim Haqqani, Habibullah Agha and Nida Mohammad Nadim over alleged crimes against humanity, including persecution on gender grounds.

Manawi welcomed the move, saying accountability requires those accused of abuses to face justice.

He said he and several colleagues had raised the issue of alleged widespread rights violations in Afghanistan with the ICC in 2022
