Hollywood actress and former UN refugee agency special envoy Angelina Jolie has shared before-and-after satellite images of Gaza, highlighting the scale of destruction across the Palestinian territory.

In a post on Instagram, Jolie said the images showed areas in Rafah, Khan Younis and Gaza City before the war and in their current condition. She wrote: “You can now open Google Earth and see what was done to Gaza,” adding that entire neighbourhoods had been reduced to rubble, with homes, schools, hospitals, roads and other infrastructure damaged or destroyed.

Jolie cited a UN satellite assessment which found that 82% of structures in Gaza had been damaged as of 16 June 2026, with about two-thirds of those assessed as destroyed. She also said 1.98 million people, or 94% of Gaza’s population, need shelter assistance and essential supplies as winter approaches.

She called for humanitarian aid and medical supplies to reach civilians at the scale required and for conditions to be created that would allow Palestinians to rebuild their homes and essential services. Jolie said satellite images could show the physical destruction, but could not fully convey the human cost of the conflict.
