Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, leader of the Hezb-e Islami party, has criticised the Taliban’s policies and performance during an online meeting with party members outside Afghanistan.
Hekmatyar accused Afghanistan’s current government of “repression, corruption, looting and dependence on foreigners”, saying the continuation of such conditions had deprived Afghans of their basic rights.
He called on members and supporters of his party not to remain silent in the face of what he described as “repression and corruption” and urged them to voice their opposition.
The Hezb-e Islami leader has stepped up his criticism of the Taliban in recent months. He had previously called on party members to cut organisational ties with individuals who support the Taliban’s policies.
