Trump Says US Bombers Were Moved from UK Following Threats

US President Donald Trump has said the relocation of American bombers from the United Kingdom was prompted by security threats.

Speaking to reporters at the White House on Monday, Trump was asked whether a specific threat had led to the aircraft being moved from Britain.

“Yes, I think we can say that,” he said. “They didn’t just fly out of there for no reason. There were some threats.”

The Wall Street Journal previously reported, citing US officials, that all 12 B-1 bombers stationed at RAF Fairford in Britain had been returned to their main bases in the United States.

According to the report, the decision followed security concerns over a possible plan to attack the airbase.

The Pentagon also confirmed that all the bombers stationed at Fairford had returned to the United States.
