Thousands of supporters of former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan are marching towards the capital, Islamabad, demanding his release.
The march has been organised by Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, members of his family and his supporters. The protest has faced several obstacles, with a number of roads leading to Islamabad blocked.
The march began on Sunday from Lakki Marwat, about 275km (170 miles) from Islamabad. The protesters stopped overnight and are expected to resume their journey around midday on Monday local time.
The protest was initially planned for last week but was postponed to allow talks between the government and PTI. The negotiations later reached a deadlock.
