US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has said Washington is prepared to hold meetings with his Chinese and Russian counterparts during his visit to the Philippines to attend the ASEAN foreign ministers’ meeting. The trip comes as the United States seeks to counter China’s growing regional influence while also facing economic concerns linked to rising tensions between Washington and Tehran, particularly over energy security in Asia. Rubio said he would not disclose in advance the issues that could be discussed in any potential meetings, noting that such talks could involve sensitive diplomatic matters.
