Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei has reiterated Tehran’s position in support of peace, saying that no one inside Iran is seeking war and that the Iranian people have always pursued peace. Speaking at a press briefing, Baghaei said that “peace requires effort and sacrifice”, adding that those seeking peace should support what he described as the country’s defenders. Referring to recent US strikes on parts of Iran, Baghaei claimed that facilities in provinces including Hormozgan, Sistan and Baluchestan, Khuzestan, Bushehr and Ilam had been targeted. The Iranian foreign ministry spokesman described attacks on civilian infrastructure as “an attack on the right to life and human dignity”, saying that any strike on Iranian territory amounted to an attack on the entire country. Baghaei also praised people in southern Iran, describing them as “guardians of the Persian Gulf and the Makran coast”, and highlighted their resilience.
